At Essex Bank, we strive to develop, strengthen and grow our communities through a number of programs and initiatives. From charitable giving to sponsoring, we are committed to reinvesting in the communities we serve.
The following are a few of the many events the Virginia and Maryland branches participate in:
For $3 per Friday or $10 for the month, Essex Bank associates have the option to wear jeans on Fridays. Each month a new charity is selected and all proceeds from the jeans are donated. So far our associates have raised over $4,000 supporting charities such as ZERO, NAMI VA & YMCA, Comfort Zone, A Bigger Picture, Inc.MD Food Bank and RAIN.
Every 3rd Saturday of each month, starting in April and going through November, look for us at the Tappahannock Farmers market. Grab an Essex Bank market bag and enjoy a treat on us while you shop.
RivahFest is a Tappahannock-Essex County, Virginia, Chamber of Commerce event that celebrates the Rappahannock River and the unique contributions it makes to the local communities. Many of us contribute our time and energy to the various committees that plan the event each year.
Centerville, Goochland Courthouse and Flat Rock branches participate in quarterly blood drives benefiting Virginia Blood Services to help save lives. If you are interested in donating contact your nearest location to find out when and where you can participate. Additionally, these branches also participate in Food Drives for Ruby Leonard Food Pantry and Goochland Food Pantry. Donation boxes can be found at Centerville, Goochland Courthouse and Flat Rock branches.
Essex Bank sponsors several teams in walks and runs held throughout the year to raise awareness and help further research. Click these links for more information on participating in these events.

Each year our Tappahannock branch sends two representatives to participate in the 8th grade Reality Store. The purpose of this event is to teach 8th graders the reality of living on a real income in a real world scenario. Essex Bank serves as the “bank” and teaches the students how to open a checking or savings account as well as the idea of collecting student loan payments.
Each year our Rockville, Maryland Branch holds an event to celebrate Birthdays and Anniversaries for over 100 Seniors. Our Rockville location has held the event for more than 15 years.
LPF, started by Max Levitt, is a charitable organization that provides used sports equipment to kids who are less fortunate. The idea is to give these children the opportunity to participate in community sports teams. Sometimes the only thing standing between a child and a sport is a ball, mitt, or helmet. Essex Bank has held an equipment drive as well as incorporated LPF into our Jeans Fridays. LPF is also a featured charity for our Annapolis Grand Opening.
Many Essex Bank Branches are proud members of various Associations and Chambers of Commerce such as:
